Civic Innovation Lab has launched an empowerment contest for students tagged ‘Student Innovation Challenge 2018’ where students with exciting business ideas will be rewarded for their creativity. According to the information posted on the website, www.sic.ng, 100 best startups from Universities and polytechnics across the country will contest for a 37 million naira seed fund and acceleration program.
“The Student Innovation Challenge is about collaboration, innovation and creativity. Students from across Universities and Polytechnics in Nigeria will pitch their innovative ideas, learn the skills required to start and grow a successful business, perfect pitch delivery, receive business developmental support and join a network of successful entrepreneurs and innovators. 37 FINALISTS WILL RECEIVE 1 MILLION NAIRA EACH IN SEED FUND,” the information said.

The regional competitions are slated for 23rd to 28th April. Then the results will be announced. Bootcamp activities where finalists will be trained will hold between the 13th and 17th of May. The grand finale, the Demo day, will be on the 18th of May.
Every undergraduate student in any accredited University or Polytechnic in Nigeria is eligible to participate. In addition, your startup idea must solve a local challenge. The 37 selected finalists will receive 1 million naira each in seed funding. Funds must go towards advancing your idea, the information said.
This challenge will open up opportunities for you to learn business startup basics and network with successful businessmen in Nigeria, in addition to the chance of winning a million naira.
